According to the Pew Research Center, fewer men in the U.S. want to get married than ever, while the desire for marriage is rising among women. This study showed that the number of women from ages 18-34 said that having a successful marriage is one of the most important things for them. But men aren’t finding women as feminine as they once did.
Suzanne Venker, a U.S. writer who wrote “The War on Men” maintains that feminism is deeply entrenched in every segment of our culture and has created an environment in which young men find it easier to simply opt out of marriage altogether. She has since become a lodestone for feminist writers. They have attacked her position that the institution of marriage is threatened, not enhanced, by the supposed gains of the feminist movement over the last 50 years.
The problem? For the first time in U.S. history, the number of women in the workforce has surpassed the number of men, while more women than men are acquiring university degrees. This new phenomenon has affected the roles between women and men. Feminism is pushing men out of their traditional roles of breadwinner, protector and provider. Divorce laws are creating a dangerously precarious financial prospect for men that cause them to find no benefit to marriage. There is a subculture of men who say they are, in no uncertain terms “never getting married.” The trend of living together or having sex with those you are dating is a contributor. Why should men marry when they have what they want with no commitment or responsibility required?
When asked why, many say, “Women aren’t women anymore.” Feminism, which thinks of men as the enemy, has made more women angry, critical and defensive in regard to guys. Many men feel they are blamed when love doesn’t work out.
Both women as well as men lose in this scenario. While women want a successful marriage, men are more often opting out but are no happier.
Men want and need feminine women. Women need and want masculine men and enduring marriages where love is constant and secure. As a woman, you have the keys that can make the difference.
Fascinating Womanhood teaches you the attitudes and skills you will need to help bring about deeply romantic lifelong love affairs. As more women learn and practice these powerful principles, we have the ability to not only reclaim femininity and inspire masculinity but even to change nations. The backbone of any society is the family. The backbone of the family is a husband and wife. Women have the feminine power, when they understand it, to make all the difference.
